The second moment was a byproduct of my grandmother’s health rapidly declining from dementia.   During her decline, I often reflected on the moments throughout my life we spent together before dementia.  One such moment, I fondly and frequently recalled was my being mesmerized by the perfume bottles in her armoire whenever I would spend the night at her house.  I loved to see the fragrances that lined the armoire shelf – each holding a space of specialness meticulously placed to avoid close contact with another bottle.  A personal joy moment was being summoned to take the obligatory night bath and hearing her say – “What’s your perfume of choice tonight?”

The marriage of memories of fragrance exploration with my Grani and my IN + ON moment yielded the idea of creating natural and organic fragrances in December 2014.  I am not sure I understood all that would follow from the idea, but I was excited to move forward.   From phone calls to family and friends to share the idea and ask for their thoughts to monthly sleuthing visits at local beauty brand retail stores looking to see if a natural and organic fragrance was on their shelf, I raised the idea while moving across states and between cities, changing jobs and managing relationship transitions.  From reading about the history of perfume and perfume making to learning about flowers, plants, fruits, and botanicals on organic farms and the process of creating essential oils, I created the first fragrances in 2017 and held focus groups and created more fragrances and held more focus groups. 

Four years and one month after coming up with the idea, Eynonye launched in January 2019 with The Elements, a four-fragrance collection.  The name Eynonye was inspired by Grani who passed from vascular dementia in 2016.
